Delaine Jones has held a Counselling practice in Auckland over the last 25 years. Her company "Tiny Hands" has been focused on creating resources for parents and children in creating the next generation of resources for bully prevention among children. Then when the earthquake struck Canterbury she rallied her team of fellow therapists and artists together, to create the current compilation for the children and families of Christchurch during March 2011.
Ten years earlier, a Charity leg of her company called "The Given Grace Trust" was set up to administer therapeutic products for traumatised children for little to no cost. So with the recent crisis in Christchurch, the Trust was reactivated to raise funds for the current compilation series through a Hulathon challenge which is designed to involve "Kids helping Kids" from all around New Zealand.
The Trust will run and administer the Hulathon Challenge, and be responsible for entering the winning child's scores from most time achieved holding up a hula-hoop into the Guinness Book of Records and giving a prize for the ‘most money raised’ by a child, for the Hulathon Project.
Where's the Money Going?
We anticipate at least 15,000 of the approx. 60,000 children living in Christchurch will not have iPods, nor equipment to play the download specifically made for them. So we intend sending this amount of CD's to the various agencies like Schools, Libraries, Counselling Providers, Income Support Services etc. to freely distribute to the families of Canterbury.
Two original CD's with up to 17 tracks are being produced for the under 12's first and then for the adolescents effected by the quake and Pike River disasters. Over the next 6 months another CD for adults will be produced in assisting them with therapeutic exercises and music that can help them relax and rejuvenate, also freely down loadable. All surplus funding will be donated to the Red Cross.
The free download for all other young people in Christchurch or the Pike River tragedy will be available from an Internet Provider due to be released by the end of April.
